i think the birthing from within classes we are taking are pretty darn goofy. i give up on trying to learn anythnig from them. i will just go to them for the comedy and social aspect.
last night we were supposed to "find
our rythym" in a bunch of songs while our partner would support us in
that rhythym. so at 1st was some reggae type song, and then was frank zappa,
and then was something asian. because "we don't know what kind of song
our birth will be and we need to find our rhythym in whatever song comes up".
i just squiggled along and M just squiggled with me as we giggled.
oh, and we also had to hold the damn ice again as we did it, because ice is
to represent the pain of contractions *rolls eyes*
also, we had to hold a blob of cold grape jelly in our hands and pretend it was our cervixes as the leaders asked us..."what can we do to open up our juicy cervixes?"
hahahaha :)
for real.
the 1st thing that popped into my
head was just to smash my hands together and let that grape jelly fly.
i'm like, look, 1st of all my cervix is not a blob of grape jelly, 2nd of
all, what is going to open up my cervix is a baby's head smashing down on
it for 12 or so hours and a bunch of hormones kicking in to help along with
this.
sitting on a birthing ball imagining that i am opening up my grape jelly cervix
with warm thoughts is just not going to do it for me, alright?
then we learned how to draw a labryrinth
and how this relates to labour. learning to draw the labyrinth was actually
cool.
but will it help me with my labour?
i don't think so.
and we ate chocolate chip cookies,
which was good.
and we watched some videos of births which made me cry because watching those
always makes me cry.
not cry like "ohmigod isn't
that beautiful?" but cry like "ohmigod, i am going to have to go
through that?"
at the end of the class i got to touch another woman's belly :)
she is a few weeks ahead of me and therfore bigger.
her belly was soooo smoooth and her belly button had COMPLETELY disappeared!
it was cool to touch it.
i didn't want to stop, actually, but if i didn't it would have lead to an
awkward situation :)
so then we touched belly to belly like bumper cars which was really fun!
and one of the class leaders took our photo and i hope she emails it to me.
i think that there should be a game called "pregnancy bumper cars"
boing boing!
other than that, i am not connecting a ton to the other women there, but each week we do get a bit more comfortable with each other.

tonight M and i are going to go see
lisa gerrard sing at the guthrie. i really want to see it, but wish i could
do so some other day because, surprise surprise, i don't feel well today.
i don't feel AWFUL, but i don't feel like sitting in a chair in a theater.
i hope i can make it through and be somewhat comfortable.

i'm attempting to collect the colostrum
i make into a tiny jar, just to see how much i make.
so far (since last night) i have not made much...about a tablespoon. it's
not fair because i was making so much and as soon as i decided to collect
it i stopped making it so much.
weird.
anyway, if you see me squishing my boob with a tiny blue eyedropper bottle,
that is me attempting to do my science experiment.
i mean, gee, i have to get my jolly's
SOMEHOW ok?
