i hadn't seen this giant statue since
i was a wee little girl.
the thing is still HUGE. maybe 30 or more feet high?
i used to have a relative in blue earth who had peacocks.
see this statue brought back so many feelings of childhood.
excerpts from m's journal:
"me and Ana (sic) spent only a day back in Sioux Falls, my Dad's birthday his 56th, and then left sunday afternoon after breakfast. we figure on going back at some point in the spring, before the baby is born.
anyway, so... a lot to summarize. Sioux Falls. Ana met my Mom and Dad and my older brother. it was mostly good, except for a few hours on saturday night when i felt overloaded, "shell-shocked" were the words i used with Ana. what caused it, i can't pin-point. but it happened. and it was short-lived.
sunday we left back to the Twin Cities, stopped in Blue Earth to see the 60 foot tall statue of the Jolly Green Giant, the mascot for Green Giant vegetables. "Ho Ho Ho".
Christmas is on it's way. 2006, like 2005, 2004, 2003, and i think 2002, coming without snow. which depresses both Ana and me, for several reasons. damn it.
about half-way through reading the last Douglas Adams "Hitch-Hiker" book, MOSTLY HARMLESS.
Ana and the dogs are all healthy.
our home is glowing with red light."
