7:39pm

i ate cottage cheese and crackers.
think i'll have to take some ibuprofen now because of washing my hair it made my neck hurt again.
but not too bad.
20 minutes until a new Lost!

i made 3 potential cool new friends today!
2 of them are people who recently took photos of that disintegrating cow sculpture recently, too.
who knew when i came back i woudl meet people in LJ who also took photos of that cow?
we are brought together by our love for it and all things lonely and decaying.

i met a person who said they would take me with on their travels to north dakota next month.
and the person she is going with lives here, too. and it seems we all have a lot in common as far as loving abandoned things. she wants to find this abandoned hospital in north dakota she has heard of.
hell ya!
i said "take me with!" but i didn't think she would actually say OK to that.
so maybe i am going with?
we will see!
yay for adventure!

i have a virus in me now which craves more abandoned places.
i need to hear the wood creak and smell the musty smell.
and walk on floorboards that you are scared might ghive way any minute.
ohhhhh! the exileration :)
it's my rock climbing , i guess :)
or my bird watching.
if i could just live out the rest of my days exploring all the abandoned buildings of the world and photographing them, i would be so happy :)
i don't think i could ever get sick of it.

now if i could just view my body as a lovely decaying temple that with each year gets prettier and holier with each gnarl and creak and snap and paint layers peeling off, i'd be set!
but nope, just can't go there on that.
i want to be the perfect chrome android, slick and smooth against the gnarled rusty hooks and nails.
juxtoposition.

5:34pm

i didn't even get a bath done.
i made a bath and it turned cold.
my mind is elsewhere...

i ate from fruit and yogurt.
and i'm making a chicken soup.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wabi_sabi

Wabi-sabi (in Kanji: ??) represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic. It is difficult to explain wabi-sabi in Western terms, but the aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is imperfect, impermanent, or incomplete. A concept derived from the Buddhist assertion of the first noble truth - Dukkha, or in Japanese, ??(mujyou), impermanence.

According to Leonard Koren, wabi-sabi is the most conspicuous and characteristic feature of what we think of as traditional Japanese beauty and it "occupies roughly the same position in the Japanese pantheon of aesthetic values as do the Greek ideals of beauty and perfection in the West." Andrew Juniper claims, "if an object or expression can bring about, within us, a sense of serene melancholy and a spiritual longing, then that object could be said to be wabi sabi." Richard R. Powell summarizes by saying "It (wabi-sabi) nurtures all that is authentic by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect."

Examining the meanings of the component words wabi and sabi, we find sentiments of desolation and solitude. In a Mahayana Buddhist view of the universe, these may be viewed as positive characteristics, representing liberation from a material world and transcendence to a simpler life. Mahayana philosophy itself, however, warns that genuine understanding cannot be achieved through words or language, so accepting wabi-sabi on nonverbal terms may be the most appropriate approach.

5:10pm

here is yet another person who took photos of that cow!

and the happy house!
(although it was not too happy that day for her)

4:42pm

i could not rip myself away from looking at all those websites today about folk art environments...dreaming and hurting to see and touch it all and create my own.
gonna take a bath now.
and at least get a walk in.

today has been the 1st day where i have not had to take 800 mg of ibuprofen upon waking up because of the pain in my neck/shoulder.
i am really happy about this.
i have been in such pain, but finally i am healing and being able to move around.

3:12pm

2:58pm

i feel restless.
unsatisfied.
i am dealing with the "come down" from all the preparation and travelling to portal, the anticipation to my birthday...
and now i am back at home with not the film footage i was hoping to have.
but still glad i went there, of course, but having a hard time finding my motivation to see this project through.
it all seems like such a struggle since i do not drive and with the gas prices the way they are right now.
it so hard to get out to this far away places and film.
and if i do make it there again, will it rain on me again?
i feel wanderlust in my soul.
i didn't get my fill of it.
i just got a taste.
btu even just to get that taste it was SO much work, and i wasn't even driving.
it is exhausting work that needs much patience and money for gas, food, lodging.

2:51pm

TOO bizarre!

12:59pm

lots to do today.
go to the bank, clean, go for a walk...
it's nice and sunny out.
but there is the sound of jackhammers.

Your Horoscope for April 26 , 2006

You're in a very thoughtful mood today and your friends may be a little surprised that you are far from your normal chatty self. The key word for the day is destiny and if you do find some time for yourself you will be able to do some serious thinking about where you want to be going in your life.

and

A pleasure trip
Valid during several weeks: This would be a good time to see an art exhibit that challenges your preconceived views about what is beautiful. Probably this will be entertaining rather than unsettling, and you will experience something new. Or you might go to a concert that features music entirely different from anything you have ever heard. This influence can signify a long and enjoyable pleasure trip. You will derive the most benefit from a trip to a place you have never seen before, where you can encounter something totally new. This is a fine time for a vacation. Your experience may be broadened through a loved one who shows you new things. Or something may happen that will teach you more about your relationship, not to disturb you but to increase your insight.

Wednesday
Moon in Aries
Moon Void of Course 6:44pm PDT
The new moon tomorrow will be in Taurus. It's the darkest night of the Lunar cycle. For the tantrics it's a great night to get out there on the astral plane whatever your practice is it's important to observe some basics of intention.. Well I guess there could be the anarchist Vipassana society or something. Though most systems use some introspection, silence, cleaning and clearing. You want to set the intention that you are observing that simple cycle of the moon. Here now in the depth of darkness, reflecting none of the solar light to us. What do you see here in the shadow?

and

Saying what's on your mind is business as usual for you, but today it's too easy to say too much. Perhaps you would have been better off if you spoke up earlier, but you may have thought it best to remain quiet. Now it's probably too late to take back what you said. Apologies may be in order to make the best of a bungled situation.
