decided not to go to fantasia. the
thought of being packed into a smokey bar with a bunch of people in a bar
that has a snotty dress code does not appeal to me. i have no energy.
i laid in bed sleeping all day. sometimes sleep is all i can do.
i wonder if it's possible that i caught another cold just as i was getting
better from the other one.
because i swear i was getting better and now i am not getting better at all
and it's turning into a cough, too.
blah!
i am super pissed to be sick! there is so much i want to be doing and creating!
but there is nothing i can do but just rest as much as possible so i can get
well as soon as possible.
because i don't want this dragging on for weeks.
so, i'm really sorry that things are boring in here for a few days, but it's
nothing i can control.
this cold is whipping my ass.
i'll make it up to you when i'm well!
thank goodness there si good reality
tv on tonight. ANTM, survivor, american idol, and then a new CSI!
so, i'm going to go force myself to eat something, take some more vitamins,
and then crawl back into bed.
oh, i forgot to tell you that cellphones
are the new bic lighters at concerts. during "save a prayer" simon
le bon told everyone to light up their cellphones into the air. and i thought
that was really hilarious.
and so many people have cellphones! too funny.

my email to kiitos about going to see fantasia tonight:
"i just woke up and my 1st impression is that i don't know if i can
deal to go. but i want to see her SO MUCH!!! but i am pretty wiped
out. just seeing duran duran overloaded me. the cold has seemed to
move into my throat and lungs now and i have this cough. i'm paranoid
this place is going to be really smokey or something.
i'm also scared that if we don''t get there like 2 hours early there
are going to be lines around the block. also i read some stuff online
about this place and it sounds like the people there are assholes.
there seems to be some strict dresscode and if the bouncers don't like
what you look like, they simply won't let you in! plus people said it
took 45 minutes just to get a drink! gah. so...i have mixed emotions
of having to go through a huge ordeal to get in. i wish they would
just sell advance tickets but maybe they didn't because they want to
make sure everyone dresses correctly before they can get in? who
knows! augh!
and so sick of feeling sick, too. this cold just keeps shifting to
different parts of my body and i never get better. crud."

jason's journal entry about duran duran:
Ana and I just came back from Duran Duran. It was a good show - among other
new tracks, they played: "Girls on Film", "Rio", "Hungry
Like the Wolf", "Planet Earth", "Save a Prayer",
"Reflex", "Union of the Snake" (which he introduced as
"Come Undone"), "View to a Kill", "Come Undone",
"Ordinary World", "Wild Boys", "Notorious",
and a great version of "The Chauffeur."
The biggest surprise was "Careless Memories" from their first album (and an instrumental that I think was "Tiger Tiger").
The set list was ALMOST perfect - I would have loved to hear "Is There Something I Should Know", "New Moon on Monday", and "Electric Barbarella." Although they did seem a bit tired / low energy (and yes, older), both Ana and I left pretty satisfied.
A couple of funny things happened that night - one was seeing Sean S. walk past us down the isle. We called to him, upon which he stopped, turned around, and instantly took our picture. Later in the show, some video camera guy came up to us and filmed us during "The Reflex." I'm not sure if that was for the news, or some private footage for the band (future DVD release?)... Ana didn't realize this happened, and it was actually kind of funny - because she hates that song :) Anyway, for the rest of the show, the people around us kept pointing at us, trying to figure out if they should know who we are :) I also ran into an old friend, Mark, who has an identical twin brother named Paul... and of course, like a moron, I called out "Hey Paul!" Ana and I hadn't seen him since the Pretty Things played at the 400 bar. The whole show reminded me how (seemingly) arbitrary life can be. Ana and I saw one of the most influential bands of the 60's (The Pretty Things - their album "S.F. Sorrow", known as the first "rock opera", is said to have influenced Pete Townshend of the Who to write "Tommy", and their guitarist Dick Taylor should be famous in his own right - he formed this band after leaving the Rolling Stones) at a small bar in Minneapolis; and then see another major act (The Fixx - who, in my opinion, are currently in better musical shape than Duran Duran) at the Fine Line... and then here was Duran Duran playing for a ton of people @ the Xcel Energy Center. I'm certainly not trying to imply that Duran Duran aren't great / don't deserve it, etc. It's just that I'm a bit surprised we didn't have to see The Fixx in the same arena...
Anyway, the biggest disappointment was the absence of Andy Taylor. Andy had a personal matter (I think they said a sick relative) he had to attend to, so they had a replacement guitarist.
Now... Must... Sleep..."
