the story of my birth from my mom:

"The day before you were born it was very hot and windy and by evening it was sultry and sticky but the winds had died down. I was unusually tired and decided to take a bath and go to bed early, but after being out of the tub for quite some time I realized I was still dripping. Something was definately unusual! I called my doctor and he told me to head for Midway hospital. So much for going to bed early! The rest is history. A beautiful and delicate pink baby girl was born with lots of dark wispy hair, and huge dark eyes. She had kept me awake all night but once she arrived all she wanted to do was sleep. Of course by that time I was too keyed up to sleep. I remember just rattling on to your dad, and the nurses about every little detail concerning you. When the doctor came in he told me I needed to get some rest because I had had a long night of work. I told him I wasn't the least bit tired and was just too excited to sleep. What I wanted was to see you. He said I wouldn't be able to see you then but would a little later after you were settled in to your incubator. He told me you were awfully small but otherwise perfect and healthy. After he left I closed my eyes and slept for about FIVE hours! Totally zonked! I think the nurse gave me a shot of something to facilitate that.Of course when I finally woke up I could not wait to see you. Your dad came in and told me he had seen you and you were perfect in everyway. So, immediately I put on my slippers and bathrobe (my bathrobe was blue with fushia trim bought especially for the occasion, and I had matching slippers. It was important in those days to be coordinated :) I remember going down the hall and seeing you in your tiny incubator. You looked right at me and stretched your legs and yawned. I You seemed awfully small and had skinny legs.I stayed so long that the nurses came and told me I really needed to go back to my room, and I said, no, I wanted to be right here, so they brought me a chair so I could sit in the hall and just look at you. Finally after a VERY long time of me peering through glass and smudging up the window they told me I really needed to rest, so very reluctantly i went back to my room. As soon as the nurses left i went right back to the hall and to look at you some more. I was a very happy brand new mom with a precious tiny little girl named rachael. I still remember every detail of that day. I only stayed in the hospital for two days which was very unusual in those days. I cried all the way down the elevator when i had to go home and leave you there. It seems like yesterday."

 

9:14pm

today is my 38th birthday :)

i slept in then hung out at jason's for a bit watching a "the restaurant" marathon. then jason left to go hang with his dad and go to the tim conway show. i went back and got dressed. it was super hot in my house today because it actually got up to 86 degrees outside!
fuzzybumblebee picked me up at 6pm and we went to a yummy mexican restaurant. and tons of my friends were there :)

fuzzybumblebee, carolyn, bhob, amber who is "altais" on lj, renee, kiitos, and my friend teresa who i haven't seen in years and so it was SO good to see her!
it was torture , tho, because i wanted to talk to EVERYONE and it was impossible to do so, so i was just overstimulated and hyper as all get out! but the mountain dew i had right before dfid not help. and then the margaritias gave me more of a sugar buzz. i am so blessed to have that many people care about me and come to dinner with me :) i feel truly blessed.

and kiitos made me a white cake with pink frosting with is my absolute FAVE, but i didn't eat any yet because i was too stuffed. and i didn't even eat that much od my meal because i was so hyper and i had broken down and ate a granola bar right before i got there because i was so shaky from only having a mountain dew all day.
so now i have almost 1/2 a cake and a huge mexican meal in my fridge to eat later :) and i ordered the biggest meal on there which was one of everything :)

and the restaurant gave me free fried ice cream which i could only eat a tiny spoonful. and they stuck a somberaro on me and took a polaroid picture of me that i got to keep.

oh ya, and i need to tell you about the cheesy pink floyd laser show :)

oh, and a HUGE thunderstorm happened during my birthday dinner, it was cool :) the tornado sirens even went off.
and not it's already 20 degrees cooler.
