i want the truth of war to be shown.
http://dear_raed.blogspot.com/

i think it's pitiful that cnn is refusing to show the the reality of war.
if they want to remain truthful (which they obviously don't), then
they should show the WHOLE truth.
every other european country is showing pictures of what is the actuality of bombs being dropped. but we don't. we keep it all sanitary with lots of pictures of bombs blowing up from the distance and lots of neat concise maps and graphs.
really really pathetic. and really really biased. and really really DANGEROUS.

calling iraq
wow! this woman opheliasdeserts called a random person in iraq!
here is the link to her post

here are excerpts from what she has written:
"
I just called Iraq.
who? I don't know.
why? I don't know.
I dialed the code to get iraq and any number and this man answered, and I asked for his wife or kids and said that my name was Hanan and that i was calling from canada. he stoped for a while, and passed me a woman.
I told her that I was calling to tell them that everyone here thinks about them daily, that i was sorry that we cant do more than convey our thoughts and pray for their safety, I was scared she wouldnt understand my arabic but she did.
I also told her that we loved them, that they will never be forgotten during these days. that more people will call them, and write letters that we will try our best to do our best to help them always, that noone is indifferent. I told her about how many of us went down to protest under 30 degrees. she said canada is so cold, she wanted to know if i went to school, if the arabs in canada were treated well. My dad spoke to her husband, they exchanged some religious-like phrases. I asked for their address, I'm going to the dollar store and bying some toys and sending them for their kids. I don't know if they'll ever get them.....

After I made this Post in both my journal opheliasdeserts and my community arabs I was surprised at the response both posts got and amongst these responses it was proposed a brilliant idea we could all use as a massive protest.
The idea is simply to call random people in Iraq and show them our love and support of them, You can reply here with what you would like to tell the Iraqi people and we can ask tennisbitch or shoewater for the translation in Iraqi dialect. I don?t want this action to turn into some sort of political propaganda, I think we will all agree that a human approach is what we all need in these present times. Also keep in mind that most the Iraqi people speak English. So you can simply call them and speak english to them if you wish.
The area code for iraq is 964, the one for baghdad is 1 the one for basra is 40 the one for
kerbela is 32 and the one for kirkuk is 50 mousil is 60 and najaf is 33.

How would the form of an Iraqi phone number look?
Something like: 1-964-1-***-**** for Baghdad?
How many numerals are there not counting the area codes?

it will be:
1-964-1-324-3148.
7 numerals not counting the area codes"
