i do not support the troops. does that mean i want them dead? of course not.
i do not wish them any harm. but why would i SUPPORT them? they are going
to kill a bunch of people. supporting the troops to ME means that i support
what they are about to do. and i don't.
and don't go off on me saying that it's because of WAR that i have the freedom
to say this so i should shut up. does it make ANY sense to fight for something
then deny anyone to excericise that right? if i can't say whatever i want...then
why did they fight for me to say it?
but i do not believe that freedom of speech completely is because of war.
that's ridiculous. there are LOTS of aspects that go into making things free
that do NOT include war. AND just because there has been lots of wars in the
past does not mean that WAR IS THE ONLY WAY FOR THE PRESENT AND FOR THE FUTURE.
it's called PROGRESSION.
and anyway, this war we are about to see is NOT about freedom of speech so
to throw the logic at me that because other wars were about protecting freedom
of speech that means that i should SHUT UP about this one is beyond retarded.
and don't go off on me that i should shut up because your husband is in the
army right now to protect ME.
I'M NOT ASKING ANYONE TO GO KILL IN MY NAME. in fact i am DEMANDING that they
DON'T.
and don't go tell me i should then go live in another country. fuck you. i
am an american and just because i don't believe war is the way. that doesn't
mean i don't have the right to live here.
and i DON'T feel sorry for the pople who are on the frontline right now because
they were stupid enough to join the army in the first place. what did they
expect? 10 minute abs and free school? it's the ARMY. and the army is NOTHING
but a DEATH MACHINE.
i feel sorry that they were STUPID. i know that a lot of them are hurting
and i do wish i had the power to bring them back. people are stupid at such
a young age. and people are stupid at an old age , too.
but no one forced them to get on those planes to fly to iraq. and no one forced
them to learn to become killing machines. and no one is forcing them to go
kill innocent people now.
they have the HUMAN right to STOP at any time.
so no, i do not support the troops.
not this time around. not for this war.

to everyone who is so gung ho for war and feels that death to thousands is
an acceptable price to pay, why don't you join the army and get the heck to
the frontline?

i don't think you are fully understanding
the HELL that is created with war. i don't think TRUE HELL is in the scope
of your imagination. we are all so happy to just spout off about the cost
of war and then go watch cnn while we eat our tv dinners.
i find it sickening and cowardly to "support our troops" by waving
a flag like this is the goddamn superbowl.
if you really feel that strongly that people MUST die. die a HORRIBLE death. not to mention the thousands more who will die of starvation or by suicide or by rape or the countless other ways people die through war...if you really feel that this is ACCEPTABLE. then GO, i tell you, GO to the frontline RIGHT NOW and stop talking out your ass.
and anyone not willing to do that, who would rather just whine about it in livejournal like a freaking wuss, will be banned from my journal ASAP. because i'm just tired of hearing about your side of things because it makes me sick.
and i can do that because this is AMERICA.
